Troy Dunn

Troy DunnCEO, co-owner and Colorado native Troy Dunn has a long personal history with environmentally-friendly living as well as a long professional history as an Internet marketer and web designer. Before college, Troy briefly worked as a door-to-door canvasser for The Sierra Club. He also spent a summer working and living in Yellowstone National Park, where he enjoyed hitchhiking through the park on his days off.

After beginning college in 1998, Troy created a small non-profit organization named “101 Ways to Help,” in which he and a group of three friends worked to help promote environmental issues and education. Although small, this dedicated group made a positive impact in their community, raising money to plant over 100 trees as well as working with the Jefferson County Before and After School Program to educate children about the local flora and fauna, among other accomplishments.

Troy graduated from Platt College with an associate’s degree in Advanced Interactive Website Development and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Graphic Design, and almost immediately started his own freelance web design firm. In addition, he began teaching web design at his alma mater, which he continued to do for several years. Although his schedule no longer allows him to teach, he is still active with Platt, currently serving on the school’s Design Advisory Board.

In 2004, Troy joined Page 1 Solutions, a web marketing firm for doctors and lawyers. For almost seven years, Troy was the head of the Design Department, where he oversaw every website design, development, and update for over 600 clients. He directly managed as many as 23 employees at one time, including designers, programmers, IT professionals, video producers and interns. During his tenure, these departments won 28 awards. Additionally, he spearheaded the company’s “green” program, including partnerships with the EPA and the Arbor Day foundation, and was recognized by the State of Colorado two years in a row for Environmental Leadership.

Today, Troy has moved upward in the organization, and is now Page1’s Chief Science Officer, where he runs their IT, Programming and Video departments. (In 2010, Page1 was named one of the top 50 Colorado Companies to Watch.)

In 2011, Troy and his amazing wife, Tara, formed the Little Green Agency, hoping to help environmentally friendly organizations, farmers’ markets and CSA’s create affordable and easy-to-use websites.

“I hadn’t really thought about it before we started the Little Green Agency but farming has always been in my blood,” said Troy. “Both sides of my family grew up farming in the Midwest. My ancestors are farmers as far back as I can trace. Websites are my profession, but nature is my passion. So it feels really good to be using my skills in way which helps farmers and other green organizations succeed.”
